watercolor workshop tutor Pablo Ruben
Pablo Ruben Lopez is an artist of Griñón, a small town south of Madrid and near the historic city of Toledo where he has his own studio.
Pablo Ruben has been painting all his life but during the last ten years when it has been fully dedicated to art.
He has learned from various teachers in Spain and in recent years has taken courses with internationally known watercolorists Alvaro Castagnet and Joseph Zbukvic.
He paints in oil, acrylic and watercolor, but watercolor is a technique that he is working more in lately.
He says, “it is because it is the medium that allows less time to finish a work and a more spontaneous result”.
The artist creates.
The most important aspect of painting is to capture the real atmosphere of the scene. All my paintings are based on places I have visited.
If possible I will only use two dominant colors and add splashes of their compliments .
I add points of a brighter shade of a color used elsewhere in the painting, as an attention grabber.
Gain the freedom.
It is important that watercolor has a uniformity. “The key is UNITY IN DIVERSITY”
Quotes from Pablo Ruben:
Gain the freedom.
“Travel is the best way to find new subjects”.
Try new things.
“The qualities of the watercolor that I like are the freshness, the speed of execution and spontaneity. On the other hand I can keep the drawing base which is one of the most important parts of the work for me”.
Expand your horizon
“I love urban and industrial scenes, full of machinery, structures and of course vehicles, I am passionate about classic cars.
Many of my works are themes in which water is the main protagonist, lakes, puddles, rivers, fountains,… I love the work of reflections in the different situations that water generates”.
We’re going to show you how to capture the magic of water reflections and composition.
So get ready for an exciting and completely new perspective on water, movement, color and paint application.
While out on location and within the studio environment, directly with watercolour.
We will learn a variety of techniques and different forms of working.
Due to small student numbers the teaching will be personal so that no matter what the student level is, although not suitable for absolute beginners, Pablo Ruben will quietly and patiently guide everyone through the course each day, allowing for one on one tuition as necessary.
